Biography

Jon Hurley currently has a studio in Harefield, Near London, where he develops his work and takes commissions. Jon Hurley was educated at Edinburgh University, Wimbledon College of Art and Eton College.

At Edinburgh University he gained a degree in History of Art whilst also creating his own work and art-directing a number of independent university plays. Prior to Edinburgh, he trained at Wimbledon College of Art on the foundation course, specialising in sculpture. At Eton he studied ceramics and sculpture under Gordon Baldwin and won a number of ceramic and art prizes culminating in the 1994 Drawing Masters Prize, the most prestigious art award Eton offers.

He has regular exhibitions, most recently in December 2009 in Jaggedart, Marlebone, London where he showed a collection of lamps and bowls . In January 2009 he exhibited with a collective called Art Out of the Gallery in a show on the Strand, London. Previous to that he was in a group show, “Derive” at The Rivington Gallery, London whose private show was attended by The Chapman Brothers and Sam Taylor-Wood. In the summer of 2007 he exhibited at The Adam Street Gallery, London. There were annual private exhibitions prior to that.
